 oining the 2016 trend. I am sharing a painting I created back in 2016. At the time, a cartoony painting style was not yet very popular. Now, I often see cartoon-style paintings hanging in local galleries. This is an acrylic painting and is available for sale. If you are interested, feel free to DM me.

 These drawings from 2003 were recently sent to me by friends who still own them. Honestly, I created so much art back then that I don’t even remember drawing some of these pieces. At that time, most of my works were in anime style. It was only after I met Kuya Bing Cansino, a Marvel/DC Comics artist, that I started studying proper anatomy. Today, my art style has become very diverse. I don’t commit to just one style — I can work in many different ways. Sometimes I think about developing a single, recognizable style, but to me, that doesn’t sound fun at all. I enjoy exploring art, and if that means changing styles often, then so be it.

Welcome to my blog! Today, I’m going to share my experience at the recently concluded Manila International Book Fair 2024, held at SMX Manila. I attended on Days 1, 2, and 4. Day 1 was Wednesday. I planned to go during the weekdays because, based on previous experiences, the crowd is lighter, making it easier to move around the venue . MIBF 2024 was spread across two floors: the first floor featured books, while the second floor focused on children’s books and the comics section. Unfortunately, I didn’t explore the first floor as I was primarily interested in the comics section. I arrived around 1 PM and had the opportunity to interview Ezjae Zemana, a comics creator also known as "Panitikanerd." I also caught up with friends who were present at the event.  Yesterday, on July 13, 2024, my wife and I went to Market! Market! mall and were pleasantly surprised to find Hobbycon 2024 in full swing at the event center. We wandered around, snapping photos of the myriad of toys, prints, cards, posters, and other pop culture items, mainly featuring anime and western superheroes. During our visit, we ran into Emman Centeno, also known as Ronin Panda, who had a booth at the event. He was selling his art toys and was accompanied by friends, including Rustico Limosinero, an old komiks friend of mine. I invited Emman for a short podcast recording about his journey in comics and art toys, which will be available soon. The photos were taken with Olympus E-PL2 and E-PL3 cameras.

  Back in 2004, I embarked on a creative journey and crafted a delightful short comic centered around my alias, "Mukatman." This whimsical tale stemmed from my vivid imagination and provided a humorous take on its origins. Interestingly, the genesis of the moniker can be attributed to a komiks I created titled "Mukat," which gained recognition within our school community. The nickname "mukat-man" stuck, and I happily embraced it. During those formative years, my artistic endeavors revolved around traditional drawing techniques, which allowed me to fully immerse myself in the captivating world of comics. Today, I am thrilled to share this entertaining comic with all of you, celebrating the passion and joy that comics bring to my life. #mukatman #komiks

 Yesterday, I had the incredible opportunity to witness Juan Luna's long-lost painting, "Hymen, oh Hymenèe," in person. Thanks to BPI Preferred membership, I joined a walking tour organized by Ayala Museum. The exhibition, titled "Splendor: Juan Luna, Painter as Hero," showcased not only the masterpiece itself but also photographs, a documentary, and Luna's other paintings and sketches. It was a truly inspiring experience to delve into the artist's history and artistic journey.
